Packing is everything when it comes to travel. How compact you can get your luggage makes or breaks the trip. I’ve gone through several travel pouches over the years, but switching to the EXCITECH Compression Travel Pouch genuinely transformed how much I can fit — and how light I travel.
There are so many compression pouches out there, so I want to walk through exactly why I chose this one and what it’s actually like to use.
Whether you’re traveling solo or with a family hauling a mountain of luggage — this one’s worth knowing about!
Why I Chose the EXCITECH Pouch — What Makes It Stand Out
YKK Zipper
This was the single biggest reason I bought it. Looking through reviews of other compression pouches, broken zippers came up again and again — and that kept me from committing. But this one uses a YKK zipper — a Japanese zipper brand recognized worldwide as the gold standard for zipper quality — and that made all the difference.

This is the M size pouch.
I stuffed in 40 Pampers diapers (size L) — compressing as I went — and the zipper closed completely.
No signs of tearing or breaking at all. There’s clearly even more capacity to spare.
A Japanese Brand You Can Trust
This product is made by Extage Co., Ltd., a Japanese company. The product was designed in Japan with input from active cabin crew, manufactured in China using Japanese-made YKK zippers, and has passed quality testing by a third-party inspection body in Japan. The brand clearly takes quality seriously.
The material is 100% high-strength nylon — dirt-resistant and highly durable.

I stuff things in carelessly and close the zipper by pressing down on the pouch — and it has never once shown any sign of breaking. While searching on Amazon, I kept seeing reviews saying “the zipper broke” or “the fabric tore at the zipper seam” for other brands. EXCITECH is genuinely tough.
Machine Washable!
So far I’ve only wiped mine down and air dried it, but it can also be machine washed in a laundry bag. The fabric has a water-resistant coating, so full machine washing feels like overkill for everyday use — but knowing you can throw it in the wash if something goes wrong is genuinely reassuring.
Size Guide
- S: 30×20×3 cm (12×8×1 in) — approx. 157g (5.5 oz)
- M: 32×24×3 cm (13×9×1 in) — approx. 170g (6 oz)
- L: 40×30×3 cm (16×12×1 in) — approx. 231g (8.1 oz)
L Size
For a recent trip I packed my own clothes plus the kids’ cold weather gear — regular clothing plus one adult pair of ski pants and two children’s ski pants. With a little compression by sitting on it, the zipper closed without any issue.
In summer, one L size could probably fit the whole family’s clothing.

For example, you can bundle up laundry in a cloth like this on the way home —
— and compress it right in the pouch for the return trip.

M Size
I bought three in different colors:
- Black → husband’s clothes
- Lavender → kids’ clothes
- Light blue → diapers

This photo shows it less than full — there’s still plenty of room. It depends on the diaper brand and size, but with Pampers, standing them vertically in one row and two columns worked really well.
A Side Note: My Favorite Color Strategy
I used to buy all the same color — and then whenever I asked my husband to “grab that one,” he had no idea which was which. The backpack would get turned upside down every time.
So this time I went with all different colors on purpose. Now I can identify the contents at a glance — no more digging around!
Any Downsides?
If I had to name one — because it compresses via zipper rather than vacuum, it doesn’t come out perfectly flat and rectangular. It’s a structural thing that can’t really be changed, but when you stack pouches, the middle bulges slightly and there are gaps around the edges.
You can actually tuck things into those gaps, so personally it doesn’t bother me at all.
New Model: EXCITECH COMPRESS POUCH + AIR PUMP
Released in February 2026 — the EXCITECH COMPRESS POUCH + AIR PUMP.
This version uses an electric pump to compress, which solves the “not perfectly rectangular” issue I mentioned above!
It uses a waterproof zipper to help keep air from seeping back in after compression (the zipper is slightly stiffer than usual for this reason). You do need to carry the small electric air pump with you — but for anyone who wants to pack a large volume of luggage as neatly as possible, this could be a real game-changer.

A good travel pouch is a long-term investment. I used to think a cheap one would do the same job — but the difference in zipper smoothness and how the fabric holds up after washing is genuinely night and day.
If you’re traveling with a suitcase you check in, you may not need compression — but for anyone traveling light with just a backpack, a compression pouch is a game-changer.
There are plenty of similar products out there, but the zipper is the first thing to break — so I strongly recommend reading reviews carefully before buying. The zipper quality really does make all the difference!
Hope this helps!
